What to Do When Your Diesel Truck Is Losing Power
A diesel losing power is usually telling you the engine is trying to protect itself. Causes range from a plugged fuel filter to a derate from an emissions fault.
Quick checklist: any warning lights, any visible smoke (color matters), recent fuel fill quality, fuel filter age, air filter condition, and any boost leaks you can hear.
If the truck is in active derate, get it scanned today. Continuing to drive a derated truck under load can take out a turbo or injector.
