Preventive Maintenance Checklist for Diesel Fleets

Aggressive preventive maintenance is the single highest-ROI thing a fleet can do. Every dollar spent on PM saves roughly five dollars in roadside repair, towing, and lost revenue.

Core PM items by interval: every 15k-25k miles do oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, coolant top-off, DEF top-off, chassis lube, and a full multi-point inspection. Every 50k pull samples for oil analysis. Every 100k check valve lash and inspect the turbo. Every annual cycle: full DOT inspection.

Track every PM by unit. Mileage, date, technician notes, and any items flagged for follow-up. A truck without a service history is a truck waiting to break.
